Post Nº6: Postgraduate Studies

When I finished my bachelor’s degree in English Language Teaching at Universidad Metropolitana de Ciencias de la Educación, I decided to continue my studies immediately. This is why while I was carrying out my professional practicum and working on my thesis project, I enrolled myself to obtain a Diploma in Educational Psychology at Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. This was in 2013 and the program lasted a year. In the beginning, I was really scared because I thought that the contents, assessments and final project was going to be a huge deal. And it was actually a big deal, but I was able to manage it very well and, once I ‘unblocked’ that challenge, I started to think about applying for a master’s degree. This is why I decided to apply for a master’s degree. My initial thought was to take it abroad, maybe in Canada, Australia or New Zealand, but due to some money issues, I finally decided to take it in Chile. I applied for the Master of Arts in Teaching English as a Foreign Language, at Universidad Alberto Hurtado and I was selected. I was really happy about this experience that was going to last 2 and a half years, so I felt excited about the learning experience but also, I felt a bit anxious about working and studying at the same time. It was a difficult process, I can’t deny that, but in the end, it was a rewarding experience. I received my diploma in 2016 and it helped me to opt for better job opportunities. Then, in 2017, I finished a Diploma in Higher Education Management at Universidad Santo Tomás. This one I took it because a won a scholarship at my previous job. What about today? Well, tomorrow I start a third Diploma in Assessment in Higher Education. What about the future? My next goal is to apply for a doctorate’s program and, this time, I’ll do whatever it takes to study it abroad.
