Post Nº6: Postgraduate Studies

Image
Add caption When I finished my bachelor’s degree in English Language Teaching at Universidad Metropolitana de Ciencias de la Educación, I decided to continue my studies immediately. This is why while I was carrying out my professional practicum and working on my thesis project, I enrolled myself to obtain a Diploma in Educational Psychology at Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. This was in 2013 and the program lasted a year. In the beginning, I was really scared because I thought that the contents, assessments and final project was going to be a huge deal. And it was actually a big deal, but I was able to manage it very well and, once I ‘unblocked’ that challenge, I started to think about applying for a master’s degree. This is why I decided to apply for a master’s degree. My initial thought was to take it abroad, maybe in Canada, Australia or New Zealand, but due to some money issues, I finally decided to take it in Chile. I applied for the Master of Arts in Teaching Engli...

Post Nº5: My Future Job

Image
When I was younger if you asked me what I wanted to be when I grow up, becoming a teacher was the last thing on my list because I hated school. I used to think that school was not for me until I got into the eighth grade. In 2001, I was going through a rough period in my life and I had a teacher that was there for me and helped to overcome all difficulties. She always believed in me and, most importantly, she helped me to believe in myself. It was because of her that when I had to make the decision, I immediately knew I wanted to become a teacher. I also knew that I wanted to work with high school students since teenagers are really vulnerable and most of them need emotional support. I dreamed about working in a school in a small village in the South of Chile, and maybe someday I will do that. When it comes to money, you know that you won’t become a millionaire, so money is not an important issue. Regarding my field, English was always an easy subject for me, and I like traveling (...

Post Nº4: A Sport I love/ I Sport I Would like to Practice

Image
Post Nº4: A Sport I love (Option A) Swimming has been my favorite sport since I was very small. I learned to swim when I was just 4 years old, because my father is a great swimmer and he always took us to vacay to his hometown Angol , which is a small city in the Araucanía region in the south of Chile. I really love swimming because it provides you freedom. When I go to a lake, I like to swim de deepest I can and then let myself go free. Also, I love being outside in the summer. To me, being in or near water helps to reduce feelings of stress. Just listening to the sound of water is soothing for me. Swimming is a great way to enjoy fresh air, sunshine, and water all at the same time. Those things combined are great at instantly improving my mood. However, there are many other reasons why swimming is a popular sport. Firstly, swimming is a sport for all age groups, and it is a lifetime activity. People can learn to swim as young as 4 or 5 years old or as old as 6...

Post Nº3: My Favorite TV Series

Image
My favorite TV series of all time is definitely Breaking Bad. It is available on Netflix and I have watched 3 times already and, every time I start watching it, I keep discovering new clues about the plot and new personality traits about the characters as well. Everything on this show is well-executed, the acting, the direction of each episode and the dialogues. The usage of songs and background music is really interesting as well. Surely, it has a slow pace sometimes but, from the very first episode, you will get hooked. This TV series has the most emotionally charged, tragic and perfect finale and, if you watch it and you like it, it’s going to be hard to decide when to stop watching the episodes. It also shows how practical knowledge of Science is useful in ‘special’ ways, for instance, to become a millionaire or to escape from a tricky situation. Undoubtedly,  Heisenberg is one of my favorite fictional characters of all times. TASK Nº3 - My Favorite TV Series Instructi...

Post Nº2: The Best Holidays I've Ever Had

Image
Since I was a little girl, I used to dream about visiting one of the most valuable living treasures in the world (according to UNESCO),  The Galápagos Islands , in Ecuador. This is why when I had the chance to plan my first trip abroad, I decided to travel there. I started to plan the trip 6 months in advance, to avoid any last-minute issues. This trip was in November of 2016 and it lasted 10 days. On the first day, I arrived at Santa Cruz Island, which is the second bigger island in the Galápagos, after Isabela Island.  I went on an excursion to Las Tintoreras on the same afternoon. Within minutes I started to see different types of lizards, birds, crabs, little penguins, and blue-footed boobies, wandering freely around people all the time. After walking a couple of kilometers, I got to Tortuga Beach and I was able to see hundreds of marine iguanas, swimming in the sea or walking on the sand. It was a really beautiful expedition, and this is one of the photographs tha...

Post Nº1: A Country I Would Like to Visit

Image
We all have a place that we would like to visit at least once in our lifetimes. For me, that place is Italy. There are many reasons why this country is one of my number one travel destinations. Its culture was born more than 2500 years ago. As a result, Italy is the home to prehistoric sites and ancient monuments. The language is also very beautiful, and the Italian food is without a doubt one of the best ones around the world. Furthermore, its capital Rome is so rich in art, culture, and architecture. It is well known for being one of the most wonderful cities in the world. When it comes to its attractions, the monuments that I would like to visit are the Colosseum and the Pantheon, a building that has been preserved for more than 2000 years. This monument shows the level of mastery in architecture by the ancient Romans.  Now it's your turn. What country would you like to visit?
