Post Nº5: My Future Job
When I was younger if you asked me what I wanted to be when I grow up, becoming a teacher was the last thing on my list because I hated school. I used to think that school was not for me until I got into the eighth grade. In 2001, I was going through a rough period in my life and I had a teacher that was there for me and helped to overcome all difficulties. She always believed in me and, most importantly, she helped me to believe in myself. It was because of her that when I had to make the decision, I immediately knew I wanted to become a teacher. I also knew that I wanted to work with high school students since teenagers are really vulnerable and most of them need emotional support. I dreamed about working in a school in a small village in the South of Chile, and maybe someday I will do that. When it comes to money, you know that you won’t become a millionaire, so money is not an important issue. Regarding my field, English was always an easy subject for me, and I like traveling (who doesn’t?), so tourism would have been my second choice. Nonetheless, teachers have holidays who allow us traveling and, we can always go abroad to teach Spanish.
